According To the “Duck Test” Trump Is a Raging White Supremacist

Whether they realize it or not, most Americans are familiar with the so-called “duck test.” It is a humorous term for a form of abductive reasoning implying the ease of identifying a subject based on their habitual characteristics. It is typically stated thus:

“If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck then it probably is a duck.

If any American had questions after listening to Donald “Duck” Trump act, walk and talk like a Nazi white supremacist, then they should have no doubts any longer about what he really is. It is particularly true as of late when Trump equated his nasty racist devotees with Americans vehemently opposed to racism. And, as if to display his white supremacist bona fides for all to see, Trump compared the white supremacists’ and Ku Klux Klan’s treasonous Confederate heroes with America’s Founding Fathers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

It isn’t that Trump doesn’t know the difference between his white supremacist acolytes and decent Americans who oppose them, or why the nature and symbolism of Confederate statues inclines decent Americans to want them removed; he certainly does. But he doesn’t care because he is a public and private racist and is as ensconced in the white supremacist mindset as every Nazi, white supremacist and K.K.K. member that created havoc and shed blood in Charlottesville last week.

After listening to Trump parroting the exact same talking points as the K.K.K., League of the South, Occidental Dissent, alt-right, Daily Stormer and various Confederate white supremacist groups, it is beyond refute he is one of them. It might be true that Trump doesn’t want to recreate the United States in the image of the Confederacy that attempted to tear America apart, but by venerating its treasonous leaders as some kind of divine cultural icons and defending memorials to their vicious acts and deeds, he may as well hoist a Confederate battle flag over the White House and declare war against the United States of America. In a manner of speaking, he already has.

First, Trump equating the treasonous Robert E. Lee to Founding Fathers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson because the latter owned slaves is simply beyond the pale. Yes, it is problematic that the Founders owned slaves, but they were not traitors to the nation they founded. Conversely, Robert E. Lee left the United States military to wage war against the United States of America; it is the Constitution and U.S. Code definition of what a traitor to America is.

Robert E. Lee only avoided being tried, convicted and executed for treason due to the Herculean effort of Ulysses S. Grant. It was Grant who convinced then-president Andrew Johnson to quash an indictment against Lee for treason. Grant was averse to going back on his word to the Confederate traitors that they would be granted amnesty despite causing the deaths of well over 750,000 Americans in the South’s bloody war against the United States.

That bloody war to “rip apart America” was fought to preserve the South’s ability to own human beings as slaves and it is that “culture” the Trump and his white nationalist acolytes want to “honor.” It is noteworthy that Trump’s acolytes want to rip the country apart again to recreate the Confederacy as “white man’s land” to “reclaim their precious patrimony” the Confederate statues and monuments symbolize.

Trump had the temerity to write on Twitter  that it was “foolish” to remove statues of traitors Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson while putting them in the same class as two of the nation’s Founding Fathers. To sound as close as possible to the white supremacists and Klan members in Charlottesville last week, Trump wrote:

Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments.”

It was sickening that Trump accused Americans opposed to memorials to slavery and treason as “ripping apart our great country’s culture” when those same memorials honor the traitors who literally attempted to “rip our great nation apart.”

That language was not, as the New York Times wrote, “similar to that of white supremacists arguing the statues should remain in place.” It was verbatim parroting directly from the League of the South, Ku Klux Klan, and Occidental Dissent that claim the Civil War had nothing to do with white men subjugating another race.

Back in May the Los Angeles Times editorial board noted:

Despite the assertions of apologists [like Trump], the war was not a fight to repel Northern aggression — the South fired first — nor to save a genteel agrarian culture. Those who continue to romanticize antebellum Dixie willingly embrace a world that found its meaning in the violent subjugation of another race.” )author bold)

In fact, that subjugation continued well beyond the end of the Civil War and it is precisely what white supremacists and Nazis want to re-establish; including maintaining the Confederate traitors’ statues to remind African Americans that they are sub human in “white man’s land.”

A fair number of those statues and monuments to the Confederacy were erected several decades after the Civil War ended during the so-called “second rise” of the racist Ku Klux Klan. They reflected a hateful attempt by Southern racists to “rewrite the past and intimidate African Americans already beaten down by Jim Crow laws and a caste system based on one superior race.”

As noted in the New York Times, “a statue of [Robert E.] Lee in a town square sends a frightening message [to African Americans] that the [Civil] war might be over, but the South is still the [white supremacist] South.”

If any American uses abductive reasoning, the so-called “duck test,” to identify Trump according to his characteristic traits, worldview, and speech, they are left with no other conclusion than he is a Nazi white supremacist in the mold of his avid K.K.K supporters. That same test can be employed to identify the great majority of Republicans who are still standing with Trump. Republicans may not express their white supremacy out loud like Trump, but by not demanding he resign immediately or impeaching him with extreme prejudice, they are as abominably racist as their Nazi white supremacist leader.

DOJ Demands Data of 1.3 Million Anti-Trump Website Visitors

If America was not in perpetual crisis mode with an avowed racist and know-nothing tyrant in the White House, and a complicit Republican Congress praising his every act, Americans may be outraged over a huge atrocity being committed in Trump’s name.

Americans are as notorious for protecting their privacy as they are exercising their constitutional rights of free speech and protesting their grievances to the government and they consider those constitutional rights as sacrosanct. However, that is irrelevant to the Trump administration that has little use for the Constitution.

In yet another attempt to silence dissent and opposition like a third-rate nation’s dictator, Trump’s Department of Justice is attempting to illegally gather private digital data of Americans who protested and opposed Trump’s ascension to the White House.

When Americans disgusted that Trump was indeed going to be inaugurated, they did the only thing possible to publicly show their mass revulsion; protest a monumental American atrocity. Now it has been revealed that Trump, through his lackey running the Justice Department, is attempting to gather digital data on over 1.3 million Americans because they visited a website dedicated to organizing a protest to Trump’s inauguration.

A Los Angeles-based web hosting provider, DreamHost, is challenging a Department of Justice search warrant demand for “any and all records, files and other information on a website that was used to organize protests against President Trump on Inauguration Day.” The Justice Department demand is, and damn well should be, “stirring alarm” among privacy and civil liberties advocates as well as the 1.3 million Americans who visited an anti-Trump website.

The Trump DOJ demands to know when people visited the site, what related webpages they looked at, as well as what kind of operating system they were using. If that’s not terrifying enough, the DOJ is also demanding all email content related to the site to identify any person, or persons, who may have corresponded with the website’s owners even if they were requesting information.

The president and CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology, Nuala O’Connor said:

This to me on its face looks like a fishing expedition. It cannot be in this democracy that simply going to a website is [indicative] of criminal or suspicious activity.”

A law professor at American University, Jennifer Daskal, remarked that the DOJ’s lack of information about their unconstitutional effort makes it impossible to known the full scope of what the Justice Department is doing and why they are doing it. She did agree with other legal experts that the federal government’s demand for data “appears questionable.” Professor Daskal said:

It seems quite concerning and extremely over-broad — raising both First and Fourth amendment concerns. It’s targeting anyone who visited a site used to organize a protest, in a way that seriously risks chilling speech and associational rights.”

Ms. Daskal also noted that searches are supposed to be “particularized based on individualized suspicion.”

As is typically the case in America’s criminal justice system, Ms. Daskal noted that searches, and warrants to search or seize, have to be “particularized based on individualized suspicion.” Broadly demanding records and the personal digital data of over 1.3 million American citizens is not only not “particularized or individualized,” it is illegally searching and seizing private information according to the 4th Amendment. One can only presume that, like the Trump-Pence crusade to compile a federal registry of opposition and dissenting voters, this latest attempt is to construct a veritable enemy’s list for future intimidation by the Trump administration, the Republican Party, and Vladimir Putin.

Although the DOJ’s original demand for the data came within seven days of Trump’s inauguration, the hosting site DreamHost resisted on privacy right grounds. So Trump’s DOJ went to a ‘Superior Court” on July 12 for a search warrant; no federal court would issue such a warrant. The DOJ told the Court that they had probable cause to believe that DreamHost has “property, namely stored electronic communications including but not limited to digital files, records, messages, and photographs” that could be used as evidence against the D.C. anti-Trump protestors on Inauguration Day.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) are joining DreamHost in its fight against the DOJ’s warrant. The CCIA president and CEO, Ed Black, said yesterday that:

The U.S. government itself has criticized countries that target political dissent with criminal process. We would urge DOJ to consider the consequences of such requests both in terms of emboldening countries like China and in the message this sends to democratic allies.

The wholly unconstitutional issue is finally bringing public scrutiny on Sessions acting on Trump’s behalf to use the DOJ to silence dissent and opposition. That is the spot-on assessment of Representative Ted Deutch (D-FL) who called for Sessions to drop the issue. Mr. Deutch said:

When the government attempts to seize personal information, including email and physical addresses, for more than a million Americans who visited a website, it shows that the president is willing to use his Justice Department and the machinery of government to go after his political opponents.”

Judge Andrew Napolitano, no real friend of demonstrators or protestors was on Fox News and even he said there are “very serious constitutional problems” with the DOJ’s demand and search warrant. In fact, Napolitano is certain the DOJ was forced to go to a county’s superior court to get the warrant because “no federal judge would sign it.”

This search warrant that the government got has a lot of us scratching our heads. There is not [a] criminal investigation, there is no evidence that the ID of these people is going to produce evidence of a crime, and these things are absolutely required before a search warrant can be granted.

Could you imagine if [former attorney general] Eric Holder did this to find out who the protesters against Barack Obama were? I dare say there would be a different reaction than what we are seeing today. … There should be an uproar over this.”

The case is not the first instance of the government asking tech companies for details on Trump dissidents. Earlier this year, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) actually attempted to pressure Twitter to reveal information to identify account holders whose messages on the social media platform that were critical of Trump. The DHS ultimately withdrew the request and it isn’t clear if it was because they would be deluged with millions of anti-Trump accounts or if the unconstitutionality of the ‘request’ became too evident.

Lawyers for the hosting site, DreamHost, seem to believe the entire issue is meant to frighten Americans into “self-censorship” out of fear of the Trump administration’s prying eyes and retribution. DreamHost’s general counsel, Chris Ghazarian said:

It’s going to chill speech. Potentially, people will stop visiting these types of websites at the risk of their information being turned over to DOJ. Companies should not be worried about untargeted mass collections of user data that we store on our servers under warrants like this.

And, American citizens should not have to be worried about their personal data, digital or otherwise, being monitored or targeted for who knows what kind of harassment, simply because they oppose the fascist in the White House. This is the kind of atrocity the American government used to condemn in nations ruled by tyrannical dictators notorious for seeking out and terrorizing the opposition and dissenting voices. That it started happening here only seven days after Trump’s inauguration protests speaks volumes to how quickly America fell victim to a tyrannical dictator who is using the Justice Department to go after his critics.

Trump Gives Nazis the Legitimacy They Want

It would be a stunning revelation to learn that anyone in America believed for a second that Trump was being sincere when he uttered the words “white supremacists, neo-Nazis, K.K.K., and other hate groups” in the same sentence as “evil” on Monday.  By now, everyone and their pet canary knows that Trump resisted his own administration’s pleas to at least feign some outrage at his most fervent base of support for the violence and deaths in Charlottesville over the weekend. Apparently his chief of staff Kelly tricked him into saying something semi-respectable with assurances it would hasten his much-needed legislative accomplishments and achieve his lofty agenda sooner rather than later.

However, Trump could barely contain his revulsion at being pressured into reading an anonymously created script that infuriated his white supremacist devotees, and that pent-up revulsion came screaming out loud yesterday when he doubled down on his initial comments in what was reported as a combative exchange with reporters.

What Trump’s remarks blaming the anti-racist protestors for the violence in Charlottesville really amounted to was one giant mea culpa to the Nazis, KKK, and white supremacists for his comments on Monday. Trump’s remarks yesterday were what the New York Times rightly stated was giving the K.K.K., white supremacists, and Nazis “an unequivocal boost.”

That boost also served, as it was intended, to encourage and legitimize the Nazis and white supremacists by portraying Americans who oppose racism, fascism and white supremacy as “very, very violent” and really bad people. Many observers claimed Trump was in a flaming rage during his assault on decent Americans in front of the press, but it was really a bit of propaganda to portray opposition to him and his nasty Nazis as “very, very violent” behavior by “really bad people.” Americans can expect to hear a lot more of that propaganda going forward with terms like “alt-left, radical leftists, and leftist terrorists.”

No doubt Trump chose those terms while he perused the white supremacists websites criticizing him as a “cuck” for daring to insinuate in a prepared statement on Monday that the Nazis went to a protest armed and looking for violence; even though they advertised heavily that they were looking for violence and told their supporters to prepare for it. As Philip Bump noted in a WaPo article, Trump’s latest remarks “put a fine point on it, he sides with the alt-right [Nazis] in Charlottesville.” (author bold)

Trump had a lot to say in defense of his initial remarks that “many sides” were to blame for the racist violence, but it all focused on how he was “right” in claiming that “his people” were innocent and peaceful bystanders who were charged  and  viciously attacked by something he called “the alt-left.” The anti-racist and anti-fascists are not the “alt-left,” they are democracy-loving humanitarians the Nazis have pledged to confront again if they dare to exercise their constitutional rights to oppose fascism and white supremacy.

Shortly after Trump reiterated, with anger, that the real terrorists in Charlottesville were those protesting against fascism and white supremacy,  the Nazis cult was duly satisfied; but none more than former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke who was elated. He tweeted:

Thank you President Trump for your honesty & courage to tell the truth about Charlottesville & condemn the leftist terrorists in BLM/Antifa.”

And one of the leading racists and white nationalist (supremacist) leaders who was an active participant in the Charlottesville Nazi-fest, Richard Spencer, was as super-excited and emboldened as Duke by Trump’s remarks. Spencer needed the tacit White House approval to keep advancing the Nazi cause after vowing over the weekend to “flood Charlottesville with similar protests in the coming weeks.” Spencer said:

Trump’s statement was fair and down to earth (sic). I’m proud of him for speaking the truth.”

No doubt part of the so-called “truth” according to the Nazis is that anyone opposing the fascist white supremacists, and by extension Trump, is a “very, very violent leftist terrorist” and that the racists in the Nazi white supremacist movement are “very fine people.” It’s true Trump didn’t call the Nazis “my people,” but that is precisely what his devotees in the white supremacist movement heard and now know to be true; Donald J. Trump is one of them and they have his administration’s blessing and backing.

By resolutely  asserting that Americans protesting against racism and fascism were more responsible for the “bloody and deadly” violence in Charlottesville than his supporters”brandishing swastikas, Confederate battle flags, clubs, shields, long rifles, anti-Semitic banners and Trump/Pence campaign signs,” Trump signaled to the Nazis he was defending them. As no small number of commentators and pundits have already noted, Trump’s comments on Tuesday “legitimized white supremacists [Nazis] like no president in modern history;” because he is, after all, just another Nazi fascist and an evil racist.

Charlottesville Was Alt-Right’s Prelude To Civil War

Any American paying attention to Trump’s presidential campaign quickly realized that he was not appealing to economically-challenged Americans, the working class, or people concerned about terrorism or national security. Whether it was the racist dog whistles or blatant attacks on minorities and immigrants, Trump pandered and appealed to racists and it is why they are growing dangerously ascendant every day.

It’s highly likely that Trump was only taken seriously as a presidential candidate by his “basketful of deplorables” because he spent several years attempting to delegitimize President Barack Obama based on the Trump lie that he was not a real American. Trump was smart enough not to call the President illegitimate simply because he was Black, but to racists and white supremacists Trump’s message was crystal clear; America belongs to the white man.

To be fair, the racial animus toward people of color did not start with Trump; it had been simmering since the 1960s and became a popular worldview among Republicans with Barack Obama’s election. That racial animus was accompanied by a new call to “take our country back” by conservatives who weren’t concerned about a Democratic administration, higher taxes or regulations; they were appalled that a non-white man had attained the highest office in the land. Although the so-called “alt-right” as a “named movement” would emerge a few years after President Obama’s election, it existed all the same under the neo-Nazi, white supremacist, Ku Klux Klan, white power and former-Confederate monikers.

No matter what the organizers of the deadly Charlottesville “rally” claimed publicly, they were not protesting over a statue’s removal; they were sending a signal that their crusade to recreate the Confederacy was underway. Any American who believes otherwise, or that the racist “alt-right Nazis” will stand down after Charlottesville haven’t been paying attention. The alt-right and all of its white supremacist iterations have already pledged to return to advance their crusade to create “a white man’s land.”

As Slate’s Tom Perriello noted, the rally’s organizers may have used the removal of a Confederate statue as it’s primary purpose of the protest, but after cries of “Heil Trump, blood and soil, and Jews won’t replace us,” it was nothing but a Nazi assault on America’s diverse population. The so-called “alt-right” has one goal that fits seamlessly with the former Confederacy and 1930s Nazi Germany: a nation ruled according to white supremacy. And that idea of a separate Aryan nation is what the movement’s leaders have been on a crusade to garner support for; restoring the Confederate States of America.

According to “League of the South” president, Michael Hill, his movement’s intent is clearly elucidated in a Facebook post titled “fight or die white man.” There can be little doubt what the “Unite the Alt-right” protest was really all about.

What we nationalists seek is nothing less than the complete re-conquest and restoration of our patrimony – the whole, entire South. And that means the South will once again be in name and in actuality White Man’s Land.”

The League of the South, Daily Stormer, Occidental Dissent, and several other “alt-right” related groups want to secede again and restore the Confederacy. And, if it means triggering a second Civil War, so be it. The League of the South has already “erected billboards that say ‘SECEDE’ in several states” including creating a banner for the coming battle to establish their “white man’s land;” a black and white version of the Confederate battle flag sans stars. The Associated press reported that, “Secession finds support on [alt-right related] websites that support white nationalism, including Occidental Dissent, and the openly racist, anti-Semitic Daily Stormer.

No American should think that the nation has seen the end of the violence accompanying the alt-right’s “rally” just because their champion (Trump) was pressured to call out the hate of white supremacists. In fact, although they pledged to descend on Charlottesville again, and started more trouble in San Antonio Texas over a different Confederate traitor’s “statue,” their intent is preparation to shed blood to create their “white man’s land.” It is a deep-seated goal they’ve harbored for generations and they are anxious for a reason, any reason, to wage war to achieve that goal. In case it seems too far-fetched to believe, the League of the South president alerted white nationalists to prepare for war. He wrote on Election Day, 2016:

If Trump’s enemies win, they will be coming for blood. If they lose, they will be coming for blood. And that’s fine with us. We have prepared for this day.”

Even though no-one except Trump’s supporters are “coming for blood,” after months of escalating their level of violent rhetoric,  a White House occupant’s tacit support, and a message that the time has come to get strong for battle, the alt-right is telling its supporters to prepare for violence to create a white man’s land. After what happened in Charlottesville, their threats cannot be dismissed as “bluster” any longer. They are deadly serious, heavily armed and have several allies ensconced in the White House and more government agencies than most Americans are aware of.

In February Republican Said Running Down Protestors Was Common Sense

So, after a neo-Nazi drove into a crowd of Americans protesting against racists and fascists killing one and injuring 19 others, Republicans have come out calling it an act of white supremacist terrorism. Many Republicans even lashed out at the Nazi in the Oval Office because he refused to condemn his base and instead blamed “many sides” for bigotry and hate-driven mayem. That’s awfully generous of the GOP and although it appears everyone should afford them some small measure of deference for condemning the fascist they have moved the proverbial heaven and the real Earth to protect; they cannot possibly be taken seriously.

First, where was the GOP criticism of Trump when he ignored a terror attack on a Minnesota mosque last week, or when a white man drove his car into an English mosque? One can’t help but believe if the young woman who was murdered by one of Trump’s Nazis on Saturday was not white, there may have been no comments at all; especially for using a motor vehicle to “run down protestors.”

This is particularly true among Republican states where legislation was introduced to allow motorists to “run down protestors” with impunity; including legal immunity from any civil action. What happened in Charlottesville on Saturday is certainly down to Donald Trump’s loving embrace of the white supremacist movement, but Republicans bear a major share of the blame for never harshly condemning their party’s attempt to legalize opposing a protest with a motor vehicle.

Of course none of the Republicans who condemned Trump’s refusal to call out his Nazi base (they never condemned his affiliation with Nazis) have openly advocated for allowing their supporters to “run down protestors with cars,” but they also haven’t condemned members of their own party who have “tacitly advocated running down protestors with cars.” It has been a hot topic for discussion among conservatives who detest the idea of free speech, peaceable assembly, or freedom or expression if it is in opposition to conservatives’ agenda.

As Matthew Chapman noted over at Share Blue, during the demonstrations by Native Americans opposing Trump for supporting for the Dakota Access Pipeline, an avowed Republican “tweeted, and then deleted, ‘I wonder how many #NativeNationsRise #NoDAPL protestors I could run over before I got arrested.’” That bit of fascism was courtesy of Daily Caller editor Katie Frates and was not an isolated display of Republican opposition to dissenting voices. And it is particularly noteworthy that all of this fascist targeting constitutionally-guaranteed peaceful protests began directly after Trump’s inauguration and the truly monumental, and peaceable, nationwide women’s protest against the fascist in the White House.

Of course a Trump-supporting Nazi would run down peaceful protestors, it is what Republicans have been attempting to legalize since Trump has been in the White House. Earlier in the year the North Carolina House introduced two separate bills targeting peaceful protestors on two counts. First, one of the GOP bills would declare protestors guilty of a newly-created crime, “economic terrorism” and allow authorities to “seize all real and personal property associated with protest.”  The second bill stripped peaceful protestors of the right to file a civil lawsuit against any driver who drove into them under the guise of protecting the protestors. The second Republican bill was a late March, 2017 response to protests that occurred last fall in Charlotte – before Trump was elected.

Republicans introduced similar bills to North Carolina’s in Tennessee and North Dakota. Both Republican bills “banned peaceful protestors who were ‘run over’ by angry drivers from suing their motorized assailants.” The Tennessee legislation targeted anyone “participating in a protest or demonstration” that a driver believes is “blocking traffic in a public right-of-way.” Republicans called the bill “common sense legislation to protect everyone’s right to peacefully protest.”

The Republican bill in North Dakota, House Bill 1203, was sponsored by state Representative Keith Kempenich who owns a trucking company. Kempenich’s bill was offered specifically to protect drivers who injure or kill protestors on a public road or highway. Kempenich denied his proposal was to prevent protests against the hotly-contested Dakota Access Pipeline, even though he wants it built for the economic benefit it will bring; he just wants to “see it done right” without interference or opposition from protestors.

Although not giving conservatives legal authority to run over protestors, an Indiana bill directed law enforcement to us ‘any means necessary’ to put a stop to protests. The Republican sponsor, State Senator Tim Jones claimed protestors are a “lethal menace” because they are guilty of “preventing first responders from reaching people in time.” As is typically the case with lying Republicans, Mr. Jones was unable to cite even one example of such an incident ever happening.

It’s unclear if the Nazi who rammed a car into peaceful protestors and killed a young woman and injured several others was aware of the GOP’s crusade to decriminalize running down peaceful protestors or not. But whether he did or not at the time of his Nazi rampage, his defense team surely will explain to the jury that he was only acting according to legislation being proposed in several Republican states.

Republicans were right to condemn Trump for not specifically calling out his Nazi supporters’ acts of violence driven by hatred and bigotry, but they cannot possibly feign disgust that one of Trump’s acolytes rammed a car into a crown of innocent protestors; especially after spending months “demonizing and denying the rights of protestors” and making serious attempts to legalize running them down with cars.

Charlottesville Nazi Terror Is Down To Donald Trump

Anyone who has been keeping abreast of the angst roiling among the white-supremacist, alt-right Nazi movement and feigns surprise at the outbreak of violence or the intent of the alt-right protestors this weekend is being completely disingenuous – a kind word for lying. The city, and indeed the region, where hundreds of alt-right protestors gathered and violence broke out was predicted by the aspiring Confederate soldiers calling themselves the “alt-right.” They had been saying openly since early May that officials  messing with monuments dedicated to the memory of their treasonous Confederate heroes were courting danger. It explains why the city “had been bracing for a sea of alt-right demonstrators” all week.

Actually, the protest was said to be the result of a year-and-a-half-long controversial debate over the fate of a Robert E. Lee statue. There have been violence-prone protests in other Southern states over removal of Confederate monuments and as no small number of news sites reported in May, “emotions and tempers are flaring” at the loss of white supremacist symbols. The white nationalist movement felt emboldened because they see in Trump a white supremacist champion with a powerful voice who pledged to help the white supremacists “take their country back.”

Although the protest in Charlottesville began ostensibly as racist opposition to taking down a statue of a man rivaling Adolf Hitler as king of white supremacy, a white supremacist champion quickly provided the real reason and true intent of the raging alt-right (Nazi) gathering. That silly Confederate statue was just a symbolic gathering place for the neo-Nazis who want their white supremacist Confederacy back.

Renowned white supremacist and former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke was blunt in explaining why the Nazis were gathered together and why they wore  helmets, chanted anti-Semitic epithets, carried torches, and wooden shields. Duke said:

We’re going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump to take our country back.”

To validate Duke’s remark, one white supremacist who travelled from Missouri to Virginia was unabashed in explaining his reason for showing up: “I’m tired of seeing white people pushed around.” And if there is any doubt whether the neo-Nazis and alt-right racists were emboldened by Trump’s campaign promise to ‘make America white again,’ Duke reminded reporters that most of the white nationalist protesters carried campaign signs for Trump.

Duke was joined by other ‘prominent’ white supremacists who took up torches, helmets and wooden shields and chanted Nazi-era slogans to descend on the university founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson. And to belabor the point that the Confederate monument was a secondary reason for Nazis to protest, they were chanting Nazi phrases such as “You will not replace us” and “Jews will not replace us.” Those slogans, like “blood and soil,” were not taken up by the Confederacy; they were unique to Nazi Germany.

After Trump tepidly condemned the violence, and insanely blamed both sides for the “hate and bigotry,” David Duke’s response further revealed this alt-right protest and Nazi violence was all about the white supremacist movement acting on Donald Trump’s campaign promise to “make America white again.

Duke unleashed a couple of angry Tweets to be sure that Trump would get the message. He wrote:

So, after decades of White Americans being targeted for discriminated (sic) & anti-White hatred, we come together as a people, and you attack us?”

And, “I would recommend you take a good look in the mirror & remember it was White Americans who put you in the presidency, not radical leftists”

Duke needs to remember that Trump did not attack the white supremacists because he knows they are acting on his behalf; he blamed the bigotry, hate and violence on “many sides” giving the Nazis the slack they’ll use for the next “protest.” There were plenty of calls for Trump to specifically call out his white supremacist supporters’ horrific acts as “acts of terrorism.”

Charlottesville Mayor Michael Signer said the responsibility for the violence lay with Trump for inflaming racial prejudice throughout the presidential campaign. Mr. Signer said:

I’m not going to make any bones about it. I place the blame …  right at the doorstep of the White House and the people around the President.”

Senator Orin Hatch (R-UT) tweeted: “We should call evil by its name. My brother didn’t give his life fighting Hitler for Nazi ideas to go unchallenged here at home.”

Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida was more pointed and tweeted:

Very important for the nation to hear POTUS describe events in Charlottesville for what they are, a terror attack by white supremacists.

Another Republican Senator, Cory Gardner (R-CO) tweeted to Trump: “Mr President — we must call evil by its name. These were white supremacists and this was domestic terrorism.”

John McCain (R-AZ) didn’t specifically mention Trump, or his pathetically weak comment blaming everybody, but the Arizona senator harshly criticized the “violent attack” by un-American Nazis. McCain said:

White supremacists and neo-Nazis are, by definition, opposed to American patriotism and the ideals that define us as a people and make our nation special. As we mourn the tragedy that has occurred in Charlottesville, American patriots of all colors and creeds must comet together to defy those who raise the flag of hatred and bigotry.”

Trump is never going to defy or condemn the very people who were instrumental in his ascendancy to the White House; he believes in their cause and will protect their efforts. One of his first acts was instructing the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and all federal counter-terrorism programs to give the violent white nationalist movement and any other white extremist groups “space.” As reported here two weeks ago,  the alt-right Nazis celebrated the order and thanked Trump effusively for giving them what Americans witnessed this weekend; “Space to destroy. He’s giving us space to operate, and frankly, it is space to destroy.”

This violence at the hands of Trump’s alt-right Nazi supporters was, sadly, expected and predicted by a great number of Americans; including the white supremacists who went to a protest armed and looking for trouble. It is likely that Trump was the least surprised of any American and given an opportunity to specifically call out the white supremacists and alt-right Nazis, he ignored reporters’ queries and walked away without comment. Of course he had a comment, but even dumb Don knows better than to praise and thank his racist acolytes for a terror attack on his behalf in front of the press. A press that knows, like most Americans, this hideous white supremacist Nazi uprising and violence is all down to Donald J. Trump.

Sessions Uses DOJ To Defend Ohio’s Massive Voter Purge

So, it turns out there was a reason the current evangelical attorney general committed felony perjury before the United States Senate and risked being sent to a federal penitentiary for five years. Jeff Sessions desperately wanted to advance his deeply-held religious convictions and use the Justice Department to punish the LGBTQ community nearly as much as he wanted to thwart democracy by restricting voting rights to white Republicans.

This week, the lying evangelical attorney general directed the DOJ to intervene in a “controversial” federal court case and protect a red state’s effort to revoke voters’ registration; an effort that has already purged well over 2 million voters from mostly Democratic-leaning neighborhoods. The case Sessions’ butted in to involves Ohio’s fascist Republican policy that has revoked voting rights for citizens Republicans claim are ineligible to participate in democracy if they haven’t voted for six years.

The DOJ filed an amicus brief on behalf of Ohio Republicans claiming that purging mostly Democratic voters is perfectly legal; the DOJ solicitor general stopped short of claiming the Republican voter purge campaign was inspired by god almighty. This fascist idea that all states are supposed to attack voting rights began in earnest in late June on the same day Trump, Pence, and Kris Kobach demanded personal and confidential voter data from every state in the Union. On that day the Sessions-led DOJ sent a letter to 44 states warning them it was reviewing their “voter list maintenance procedures” and demanded to know exactly how they intended to purge the names of voters the alt-right Trump administration claims were ineligible.

Most Americans are aware that Republicans, their legislative arm ALEC, and the fascist in the White House despise the idea that all citizens have voting rights, but it is stunning that the Justice Department has embraced voter suppression tactics. It is a major departure from what the Department has done in the past according to the DOJ’s mission statement; ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.”

According to Vanita Gupta, an Obama Administration voting rights advocate:

Monday’s filing was further confirmation of some of our worst fears about the Trump administration’s crackdown on voting rights. Yesterday, the Justice Department abandoned a longstanding view through numerous court filings across Democratic and Republican administrations that the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 prohibits voter purge practices like the one under litigation in Ohio.”

Ms. Gupta is right, of course, but she stopped short or condemning Sessions’ for abandoning the DOJ’s mandate to protect the people’s rights and enforce the law; including the federal National Voter Registration Act of 1993. Instead, this fascist administration’s Justice Department is violating its longstanding mission to “enforce the laws of the United States … and ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.”

This is the second time the Sessions-led Department of Justice has butted in to a court case it has no business being involved in. Less than two weeks ago Sessions’ issued an evangelical “amicus brief” saying that members of the LGBTQ community do not deserve or enjoy anti-discrimination or civil rights’ protections laid out in the 14th Amendment, Civil Rights Act of 1965, or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Under the Trump-Sessions fascist administration, the Department of Justice is as opposed to those federal laws as they are the National Voter Registration Act. It is not in the DOJ’s mission statement to defend violations of the federal laws and in fact according to the DOJ motto, its job is prosecuting violations of those laws.

The DOJ’s official motto, “Qui Pro Domina Justitia Sequitur,” is loosely translated from the Latin and means: “Who prosecutes on behalf of justice (or the Lady Justice).” Perhaps Sessions doesn’t speak or read Latin, but that is no excuse for defending a violation of federal law when he should be “prosecuting on behalf of justice.” If Sessions can read English, he can acquaint himself with the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and start doing his job by prosecuting Ohio Republicans “on behalf of justice.”

Whether one does a quick perusal, or a comprehensive investigation, of the Department Of Justice’s mission they will never find any “offices, departments, or divisions” devoted to fighting against democracy, opposing longstanding federal laws, or joining evangelical fundamentalists’ efforts to restrict the constitutionally-guaranteed equal and civil rights of all Americans.  However, that is precisely what Trump’s religious alt-right sycophant running the DOJ has made his raison d’être and it was so important a goal to achieve for Jeff Sessions that he risked federal prison by committing felony perjury under oath during his Senate confirmation hearing.

Trump Thanked Putin For Cutting America’s Diplomatic Corps

While many Americans are rightfully concerned that Trump is playing to a big-time wrestling script with thermonuclear war as possible result, the reality show character’s close relationship with Vladimir Putin is not commanding much news coverage. However, yesterday while some Americans were considering building bomb shelters in their backyards, Trump showed that he still embraces Russia and continues rejecting America and more importantly, its diplomats.

No doubt Trump has yearned for a reason to thank Putin for his valuable (campaign) support over the last year-and-a-half, but that would just further implicate his complicity in Russia’s attack on democracy. Still, Trump found a way to express his gratitude to Putin and “stab American diplomats in the back” in the process; because diplomats prevent wars.

When Trump was asked what his thoughts were on Putin expelling about 775 diplomats from Russia as retaliation for new congressionally-mandated sanctions, he seized the occasion to express how “very thankful” he was that Putin expelled hundreds of American diplomats from Russia. He even explained why he was grateful.

Trump said:

I want to thank him [Putin] because we’re trying to cut down our [State Department] payroll, and as far as I’m concerned I’m very thankful that he let go a large number of people because now we have a smaller payroll. There’s no real reason for them to go back. I greatly appreciate the fact that we’ve been able to cut our payroll of the United States. We’re going to save a lot of money.”

No sane person thinks Trump was being facetious in offering his gratitude to Putin; no small number of diplomats and foreign policy experts have bemoaned loudly that Trump’s refusal to even partially staff the State Department is a gargantuan disaster waiting to happen. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is rabid about cutting down on diplomats, and the idea that Trump wants a non-functioning State Department has nothing to do with “saving a lot of money.” He is more than willing to spend a “lot more money” on bombs and bullets in one fiscal year than it costs to run the State Department for a decade.  Trump and his key alt-right advisors ardently believe that the best way to conduct foreign policy with any country is not diplomacy; they love threats, belligerence, bullying and war. It is the worldview Trump has demonstrated over the past few days in the grandest fashion imaginable.

There have been several reports that the State Department is woefully understaffed with no plans, or intent whatsoever, to fill those positions. And they are crucial positions around the world that do not include janitorial or kitchen help jobs. This danger is not all down to Trump, but it is likely he directed Secretary of State Tillerson not to bother himself with putting up nominees for “low priority” positions such as assistant secretary for diplomatic security. Some Americans may recall that Republicans consider diplomatic security at the bottom of their low-priority concerns to explain why the diplomatic outpost in Benghazi lacked adequate security and protection.

As many former diplomats and foreign policy experts have noted, there is much “more than an ineffectual State Department here, there is real danger.” The real danger is when, not if, something in the world goes terribly wrong like when a poor manager and inexperienced malcontent issues biblically-inspired threats of “fire and fury like the world has never seen.” Every administration faces crises throughout their tenure, and everything falling on Trump stems from the rest of the world’s perception that he is a sap and those foreign policy crises are only going to increase in number and frequency. As noted in the Washington Post, America’s foes feel emboldened with an incompetent in the White House.

They also state the peril of Trump endangering national security by not filling important diplomatic positions; or worse, thanking a hostile foreigner for “cutting down our [diplomatic] payroll and letting a lot of people go.”

It is frightening to imagine what happens when “a crisis erupts in an area of the world that Tillerson hasn’t bothered to staff,” or another attack on an embassy occurs when Tillerson has not bothered to put up a nominee for assistant secretary for diplomatic security? “Tillerson and the president Trump will be in deep trouble.

Remember too that Trump claimed filling his administration with billionaires with exemplary business backgrounds would ensure that his government will have better management and only the very best people will be employed. “Instead they cannot perform the most basic management task of an administration — picking personnel.”

A career foreign service officer who served as an ambassador to Poland in the Clinton Administration and on the National Security Council under Bush really put Trump’s idiocy and third-rate management skills under a spotlight with two simple rhetorical questions. Dan Fried asked:

Under what theory of management is there not an assistant secretary for Europe or Asia?”  And, “How do you make an administration effective when your institutions are weak?

Trump believes his administration is effective because he controls one powerful institution; the United States military and its robust nuclear arsenal. It is likely why he said the hundreds of diplomats “Putin let go to cut America’s State Department payroll” are not going back. It is also highly likely that since Secretary of State Tillerson is BFFs with Putin, Trump believes diplomats are unnecessary; Putin will help Tillerson run the State Department and probably help him cut the diplomatic payroll even more.

It is particularly prescient right now that Trump is demonstrating what he thinks of diplomats or seeking a diplomatic solution to end his nuclear pissing match with the North Korea’s version of Donald J. Trump. One thing is crystal clear after Trump’s showy display of gratitude for some Rusky budget cutting assistance; Trump is too enamored and thankful to ever get into a pissing match with Vladimir Putin.

Trump Mentor’s Bastardized Christianity Is an Existential Threat

If there is only one thing Americans should know about the American religious right, it is that everything they preach is contrary to the teachings of their religion’s namesake, Jesus Christ. In fact, there is no logic whatsoever in calling the “religious or evangelical right” Christians by any measure.  And their hate-driven embrace of a couple of verses in the Old Testament while shunning everything else their god commanded doesn’t even justify them clutching that bible to their wretched bosoms. This week was a prime example of the bastardized version of Christianity the savages in the evangelical movement subscribe to and it should give any person calling themselves “a Christian” pause if not a world of shame.

Directly after Trump stunned his closest national security advisors and Secretary of State by threateningfire and fury” against North Korea, only one of Trump’s inner circle praised the idea of a thermonuclear attack on millions of innocent human beings. It should come as no surprise that the advisor is a Baptist preacher who can never call himself a Christian by any standard. And like his cohort in the evangelical clergy movement, he doesn’t remotely comprehend what his mythological “lord and savior” preached. For dog’s sake, this savage Texas Baptist doesn’t even understand the Christian bible he had the temerity to cite, and the context in which he used “scripture” should have sent any Christian into fits of self-doubt about their religion.

According to the sinner Trump’s “spiritual mentor,” Robert Jeffress, it was awesome that Trump threatened to unleash some biblical “fire and fury” against an entire nation because:

God has endowed rulers full power to use whatever means necessary – including war – to stop evil. In the case of North Korea, God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong-un. That gives the government the authority to do whatever, whether it’s assassination, capital punishment or evil punishment to quell the actions of evildoers like Kim Jong-un.”

Trump’s “spiritual advisor,” and Texas megachurch ‘pastor’ Robert Jeffress, is a con artist running the First Baptist Church of Dallas and was thrilled that Trump threatened North Korea with “fire and fury like the world has never seen.”

Maybe Jeffress has read parts of his bible, but in the book of Revelation when it talks about unleashing “fire and fury like the world has never seen,” it refers to some deity doing the unleashing, not dumb Don Trump and not any government. Jeffress knows what his bible says and means, but he is a mega church preacher and distorting his bible is what has made him mega rich.

According to the Christian religion, anyone, particularly a “preacher,” who distorts the “word of god” is guilty of apostasy and heresy, really bad things in any religion. In fact, Jeffress is courting deity-driven danger by attempting to interpret scripture to fit his neo-con worldview. The Old Testament saysinterpretation belongs to god;” it is not up to Jeffress to ‘interpret’ a scripture authorizing Trump to unleash “fire and fury.” Jeffress’ bible plainly warns Christian “ministers” that if they spread false teachings or mislead anyone, they will get an extra measure of “fire and fury for all of eternity.” Obviously Jeffress, like the preponderance of evangelical malcontents never read that part of his “holy bible.”

This is not a sermon or an attack on the mythos in the Christian bible or the religion. That’s always fun and entertaining, but it is not the point of this screed.

The point is that Jeffress is the perfect representative of “bastardized Christianity” and why it is dangerous to allow a no-account apostate Baptist anywhere near Trump or the White House. According to the U.S Constitution, and his bible, he is not supposed to be anywhere near the government.

What inspired this particular rant isn’t so much that Jeffress claimed Trump has divine authority to “take out a nation’s leader,” it is because he cited the Christian bible specifically to promote death and destruction of innocent human beings; not a very Christian thing to do.

Any half-wit who ever attended Sunday school knows Jeffress is a liar; he is also a fraud with his neo-con interpretation of the New Testament’s book of Romans, Chapter 13. It is the chapter this author cites often to remind “bastardized Christians” that their god unequivocally commands that they adhere to the law of the land (U.S. Constitution) and that Christians, including churches and preachers, pay taxes.

For some un-explained reason, Jeffress’ reading informs him that the cited passage was written specifically to give Trump divine authority to kill Kim Jong-Un. Romans 13 does, in fact, say that “whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.” Jeffress said that according to his reading of Romans, god gave “the government [Trump] the authority to do whatever, whether it’s assassination, capital punishment or evil punishment to quell the actions of evildoers like Kim Jong-Un.”

Anyone familiar with that passage should have immediately called bullshit. That particular passage was directed at Christians who rebel against the government authorities in the nation they reside; it does not mean that a foreign nation’s leader is beholden to another government authority; something Jeffress knows is the truth.

In fact, as one who is fairly knowledgeable about the Baptist version of Christianity, Jeffress would never have been ordained as a “preacher” if he was prone to just “making shit up” to fit his lust to quicken the proverbial end times. In fact, to prove that Jeffress does know precisely what and who that bible book refers, he cites the previous chapter.

Jeffress said that whenever “pacifist Christians” cite Romans 12 where it says “Do not repay evil for evil” as justification to adhere to closely to Christ’s teachings of peace and forgiveness, he always has to “straighten them out.” He specifically said that the passage, “do not repay evil with evil,” refers to how Christians are commanded to conduct themselves. He claims that part of Romans does not apply to the government, but the next couple of verses do.

He knows damn well that particular book was written as instructions for “how Christians should conduct themselves;” it is not an instruction manual for the government, international relations, or foreign policy. But a correct reading based on his “lord and savior’s” teachings would contradict his bastard version of neo-con Christianity based on war, greed, barbarism and opposition to the law of the land.

As further proof that Jeffress is no kind of “Jesus” Christian, he explained that he wants an Old Testament savage leader who uses bible mythos as authority to kill other nation’s leaders and citizens with “fire and fury like the world has never seen.” Jeffress is like the majority of evangelical clergy in opposition to anything good Jesus ever taught while they tout themselves as “followers of Christ.”

Jeffress’ brand of “Christianity” is contrary to everything his lord and savior’s taught and preached, he said:

A Christian writer asked me, ‘Don’t you want the president [government] to embody the Sermon on the Mount?’ I said absolutely not. Some Christians, perhaps younger Christians, have to think this through. It’s antithetical to some of the mushy rhetoric you hear from some circles today. Frankly, it’s because they are not well taught in the scriptures.”

So, the Sermon on the Mount is “mushy rhetoric” according to Jeffress. It explains everything anyone ever needs to know about evangelical fundamentalists and why they cannot possibly refer to themselves as any kind of Christian. It also why allowing these bastard Christians anywhere near the government is extremely dangerous and an honest-to-dog existential threat to humanity.

When one comes to grips with the fact that those bastard Christians make up a majority of the the current administration’s leadership, and they have a maniac like Jeffress guiding Trump spiritually, there is every reason to be absolutely terrified; because unleashing “fire and fury like the world has never seen” will manifest itself in biblical death and destruction worldwide and America will not be spared.

Climate Report Leaked To Prevent Trump From Smothering It

Once upon a time before America was ruled by a superstitious religious cabal reminiscent of 13th Century church attacking purveyors of science, the United States Congress mandated that a National Climate Assessment would be conducted every four years. On Monday last, the New York Times published a copy of the ‘special science section’ of 2018’s draft version of the comprehensive study. The Times felt, as did the scientists who conducted the study, that it was crucial to publish the “leaked copy” of the report because they and the scientists feared the Trump administration and EPA chief Scott Pruitt would “smother it in its crib.

The congressionally-mandated study was conducted by 13 federal government agencies that concluded no matter what dumb Donald or his anti-science EPA director claim, global warming “has had a verifiable impact on the environment.” And, being good scientists, the researchers referenced thousands of studies conducted by tens of thousands of scientists over 30-plus years that documented climate change on land and in the air. The scientists wrote:

Many lines of evidence demonstrate that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse (heat-trapping) gases, are primarily responsible for recent observed climate change.”

The scientists also noted that this is not some kind of future problem. Americans, like the rest of the Earth’s population, are feeling the devastating effects of global climate change right now. The report states:

Evidence for a changing climate abounds, from the top of the atmosphere to the depths of the oceans.”

The lengthy scientific report makes an oft-heard conclusion that even if human beings immediately stopped emitting greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, the Earth would still face increased temperatures over the next century. Every 8th grade student learns in junior high school science class that greenhouse gases like CO2 and methane remain in the atmosphere for decades and can take 200 years to eventually dissolve in the oceans. Those eighth-graders also learn that a even a minor global temperature increase as small as .30 degrees Celsius has a monumental effect on the climate that affects the weather. It is noteworthy too that those same 8th graders learn the difference between climate and weather. Unfortunately, the current administration is not nearly as smart as an eighth grader.

As Gizmodo reported, the draft report reflects federal government scientists’ “unshaken and continued belief” that human industrial activity is the primary driver of climate change. Trump is unimpressed with the scientists’ conclusions and still regards the idea of climate change as a hoax perpetrated by China; his proof is that there is cold winter weather and snow, and he’s seen it with his own eyes.

The superstitious Trump has claimed, at least 53 times, that literally thousands of climate scientists conducting decades of research and studies are dead wrong because if there is cold weather anyplace on Earth, then the preponderance of climate science research and study results are automatically “debunked.”

EPA anti-science moron Pruitt believes that human-caused CO2 emissions have had no impact on climate change. It was the two idiots’ opposition to scientific facts that prompted some patriotic scientist to leak the results of the study to the Times. And, it is noteworthy that the NYT sent out a “breaking news” alert directly after reviewing study’s results saying it was “an alarming draft report” on climate change that federal scientists feared would be instantly suppressed by the Trump administration.

The executive summary of the comprehensive report is more alarming than the Times let on and it informs why it was “leaked” to prevent it being buried by the anti-science Trump cabal. It is a blunt pronouncement that Trump or his science-denying EPA chief do not want released to the public because the American people have seen for themselves exactly what the scientists have been, and are currently, warning is the result of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. The summary says:

Evidence for a changing climate abounds, from the top of the atmosphere to the depths of the oceans. Thousands of studies conducted by tens of thousands of scientists around the world have documented changes in surface, atmospheric and oceanic temperatures; melting glaciers; disappearing snow cover; shrinking sea ice; rising sea level; and an increase in atmospheric water vapor. … The last few years have also seen record-breaking climate-related weather extremes, as well as the warmest years on record for the entire globe.

There are no alternative explanations to human industrial activity being the cause and no natural cycles are found in the observational record that can explain the observed changes in climate.”

Thus far, neither the Trump nor his science-denying EPA director have commented on the release of the report they certainly intended to conceal from the public. However, there is little doubt they will go to great lengths to keep it as far away from the people as possible and begin anew a dastardly crusade to demonize science and scientists as disreputable and un-American.

For this author and anyone concerned about the fate of the future for Earth’s population, whichever scientist(s) did expose the document should be hailed as heroic and their identity kept a carefully guarded secret; especially with a vindictive piece of anti-science work in the White House doing his best to imitate the 14th Century church and punish purveyors of science.
